I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis about 9 years ago. Over the last year and a half I've been experiencing pain in the middle of my upper stomach (right below my breast bone). The pain is usually on an empty stomach and during the middle of the day. It lasts for 2-5 hours and the only thing that brings relief is laying on my stomach. Sometimes it's so intense I think I'm going to pass out.

My GI doctor did an endoscope and said that it was just acid reflux. I accepted that (a bit confused) and ignored it even though the pain never really went away with acid reflux medication. A year went by and I was at this point seeing a new GI doctor because my former one moved. I told him about the pain and he said like my former doctor said - it's just acid reflux. 3 days later the pain was so intense and making me extremely nauseaus after 12 hours I decided to go to urgent care. They gave me what they called a "GI cocktail" and it did nothing. I was sent home with some painkillers which knocked me out and I woke up later feeling a little better, but still nauseaus and it felt like I had gotten kicked in the stomach.

Since then, I've have another endoscope and a Hida scan - neither of which showed anything. I was told if the pain comes back that they'll schedule a colonoscopy (which I already have scheduled because of my colitis anyway). I'm nauseaous 3-4 days a week, experience the same stomach pain about every two weeks, and am constipated (something I've never really had to experience with colitis). He suggested more fiber. I'm eating 25 grams a day and nothing is fixing it - it's just making my intestines feel uncomfortable.

I feel my doctor thinks I'm making it up, but it's definitely real and frustrating. What could this be? Is it possible that it really is all just acid reflux?
