Okay, so I've seen quite a few other questions like this, but there's just so much info on the web and I'm somewhat confused. So three days ago I woke up with a very tight chest, the kind that's uncomfortable and hurts just enough to make you reluctant to get up in the morning. I got up, took a shower, but didn't tell anyone about it. I figured if it still hurt in a few days, I'd start complaining. So then the pain eased off a little throughout the day to where it mostly hurt when I swallowed anything, then the next day it was just a dull ache, but now it's back full throttle and though my chest no longer hurts, in between my shoulder blades is either aching or throbbing constantly. It's gone from uncomfortable to downright painful, and I'm starting to get worried. My mom said it was probably something to do with a muscle, but I don't remember doing anything strenuous or that could pull a muscle lately.

By the way, I'm a teenage girl who usually swims, but hasn't for about 3 weeks now. Also, I've got another problem with my back that may be worth mentioning. About every month or so, I'll be doing something completely normal, and then my back will freeze up completely and I can hardly move it hurts so bad. The last episode I had, I was laying on my moms bed and went to roll over, and then it froze. Then it lasted for about three-four days, easing off slowly as time went on. The first episode was two or three years ago when I was playing cards, and when I reached to draw one from the deck, it happened. It normally occurs in the middle of my back, sometimes towards my lower-back, and it hurts to move my arms and legs and neck. I just have to lay down wherever I am, and stay put until it goes away enough to move.

I would only be giving you a guess as to what it could be.

Suggest you see your doctor for an evaluation and correct diagnosis...

I know I should see a doctor, especially for the sudden severe back pain, but my parents are writing it off as something normal and letting it go, so I'm doing what I can to figure it out myself. I've looked on many different symptoms sites, etc, but I can't seem find anything that fits well enough.

Your parents need to put themselves in your shoes....bet they would change their mind from 'normal' to 'NOT normal'...

Ask them this 'if it is so normal, then why is it that you know of no one else who is experiencing this'...also, what makes them think that this is normal, are they doctors?

Ouchie, if I were one of your parents...you would be seen by a doctor for evaluation.
