hi, I am a 33 year oldfemale, 15.5 weeks pregnant and have quite a dilemma on my hands. Just 3 months before I became pregnant I started having bouts of nausea with upperabdominal pain. It was so bad that I was unable to eat. I went to the ER twice for it...they did bloodwork, gave me an IV to hydrate me, said all was fine and sent me on my way. The first time I went to the ER, the pain got better a few days later, but the 2nd time it lasted for quite a while so I went to the gastro dr and he did an endoscopy. said all looked fine, minor gastritis and diagnosed me with ibs. one month after that procedure, I had a chemical pregnancy. the "miscariiage" exacerbated my symptoms and the upper abdominal pain (always in the center) got really bad. I lost 10 lbs in 2 weeks. I could not eat. I expereinced painful, frequest, loose bowel movements. again my doctor said it was ibs but scheduled me for a colonoscopy. before i had the chance to have the colonoscopy, i became pregnant again. my symptoms persist & with morning sickeness my nausea is occasionally accompanied by vomiting. i generally have one BM a day (upon awakening) but the pain just before makes me nauseouos & wakes me up. I have experienced a lot of mucus in my stools the last 2 weeks and a few episodes where there was bright blood in my stool. my gastrosaid its hemmoroids. the last 2 days I have had non-stop diarrhea, with mucous, colors ranging from light brown to dark green,some with mucous, but no blood. my doctor scheduled me for a sigmoidoscopy for next week. I am curious what you think this could be?I have had an ultrasound to check my pancreas and gall bladder 3 weeks ago, all fine. bloodwork to check liver and pancreatic function...all fine. i know i cant get a CTscan but do you have any additional suggestions of what I can do?is mRI safe during pregnancy? what can a sigmoidoscopy tell me about my upper abdominal pain?. I am scared and because i am pregnant there are such limits. this is my first pregnancy & all i wany is to be healthy so I can have this baby and watch it grow. i am scared i have colon cancer or pancreatic cancer. (both run in my family)
