Hello.
I'm 20 years old and I figured I would try this place out.
I have a question to see if anyone has somehow gone through what I have or knows anything relevant to my question or confusion. I had my first seizure probably when I was about 12 or 13 and it was weird cause in my earlier years I showed no symptoms. After I had two seizures, (they were a week apart...one was on a Wed. and then the NEXT Wed. I had another one) my doctor told me to go to the Hospital for some test to see if anything physically showed up in my brain or showed up in my brain waves. I took an EEG, which came back normal and then I think I took a CAT-Scan and something else. Not sure...well all results came back normal. Brain waves were normal and CAT-Scan was normal.
Anyways, my doctor then prescribed me to Depakote. That is what I am currently taking. I don't take it too much. I have been taking it for a few years. I had my first seizures in the 7th grade, then had another in the 9th grade shortly after I went to the dentist. They thought that the laughing gas had somehow become mixed with my medication. I haven't had a seizure since the 9th grade.
Now I am wondering if I should try to ween myself off my medication.
Does anyone know someone that has seizures that began to start around the time of Puberty and that have completely disappeared and gone away?
Thanks for anyones help. Smile

xoxo
Stacey

Get more tests first......
Hi, I have epilepsy and mine also started at 14. I had one seizure then never again until at 20 I had a baby. Durung my pregnancy I had quite a few. Now I only have non convulsive around the time of my cyle or during more stress. I would get another EEG before I got weened off the medicine. It is safer that way. Alot of people with epilepsy do grow out of it. Take care and good luck.
