unexplained severe headache

My father is a healthy, active 80 year old. He recently started having severe headaches. He's had all kinds of tests run and nothing has come back indicating the culprit. He's taking pain meds and sleeps a lot which is out of character. No one can tell us what the problem is. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
