I am hoping to maybe get some leads by posting this. For the past month I have been getting sharp shooting pains and very painful cramps in my pelvic region. I have had a High Contrast CT scan, ultrasound, blood tests, and typical pelvic exams, but still no answer. I have a mirena iud, but they checked its placement through the ct scan and ultrasound and it appears to be in normal place. Any ideas as to where the pain could be coming from or and tips for what to do next?? I would greatly appreciate any input! Thanks

I am having the same problems... stabbing pains in the pelvic region especially on the right hand side, bleeding after sex and a lot of pain, marina coil has eventually stopped heavy bleeding but not affected the pain. Had laporascopy which was clear and now on mini pill as well as coil. Consultant reluctant to proceed with hysterectomy because they can't guarantee success with the pain. In limbo and very frustrated and upset don't know what to do. Just seen another understudy who couldn't make decisions about me so got to wait again to see the main man so that was a waste of time.

Many times the ultrasounds and ct scans dont find cysts within the ovary themselves, especially if they are filled with clear fluid. That is what happened to me, I had a large cyst (found on ultrasound) removed a year ago. Pain came back 2 mos after surgery...all scans and tests came back fine. UNTIL...my doc went ahead and did a lap surgery 3 weeks ago and found my ovary was twisted and I had many clear fluid filled cysts within the ovary itself. My ovary was the size of my uterus! I asked how it was missed and she said sometimes they just don't show up that way on scans! Dont give up...we know our bodies and when we think somethings wrong...generally there is.

I finally found people who understand. Ive had a hysterectomy, endometriosis removed 3times everything is gone but one ovary. Still having stabbing pains have had 2 sonograms ct scans getting ready for a pelvic mri with contrast. If they don't find anything I don't know what I'll do. No pain medicine works and I can't get anyone to listen.

The ironic thing is my problems started about a year after I had the Mirena IUD put in (it was removed years ago). I wonder if there is any correlation between the two? Nuttyone....what about having just the right ovary removed instead of a full hysterectomy? I was hesitant to have my lap done because I felt like I couldnt see concrete evidence as to why they wanted to remove mine...that is until they got in there and saw the twisted ovary and the size of it. Once they cut into the ovary during the pathology report it was filled with clear fluid cysts. Another thing is the condition of your ovaries can change very fast like I said I had surgery last Jan..and within two months I had severe pain back. This Jan is when I had my second surgery and they found all that. So within a years time alot changed....for the worse.

pelvic pain
Ive also had the same issue but no resultes. I havent took messures like most of yall but I need to because it really hurts when it does come. Im kinda glad im not the only one experiencing this. I am 27 and have been having this issue for a while now. Not sure of when it exactly started but it did. I started my menstral when I was 17 or 18 and after the first year or a lil later my periods became irregular. Now my periods can last upto 4 months and dont come for 4 months. Which is weird. And the doctor tells me I have a normall hormone level and another one say I dont. Put me on birth control but cant tolerate it or allergic. Ive been on 4 or 5 different ones. But the pain doesnt stay long a few seconds to a couple of mins. Just want sum answers.

I had exactly the same symptoms, luckily they found out what the problem was, I was having an allergic reaction to my coil, once they took it out they could see i had developed a very acute infection in the area and gave me high doses of antibiotic. It's also worth mentioning that I have reactions to the birth control pill and can't tolerate it either. In the end and 3 children later my partner decided to have a vasectomy, otherwise birth control can be difficult lol. Hope my experience helps and you get this sorted out.

Hi, I have been suffering with chronic lower abdo/pelvic pain for about 5 years. I have always had ridiculously heavy periods and was on the pill and alternative hormone treatments from a young age but never really knew what it was for. 2 years ago I collapsed and got rushed into hospital with bleeding and severe pain. They initially thought it was appendicitis and after various tests they decided it wasn't that so they discharged me with no diagnosis. It wasn't long before I was back in hospital and they were unsure whether it was a gastro and gyne problem. After numerous tests there were no main findings to set off any alarm bells. I keep collapsing, bleeding and am in constant chronic pain all the time. I have had 2 surgeries in the past 12 months one to burn some endometriosis and my appendix along with various other treatments whilst iv been in and out of hospital ( MRI, ultrasound, CT scans, camera down and up etc) I have had numerous smear tests, bloods, and an uncountable amount of tablets. I am on a hormone treatment now but the bleeding and pain is no better. I have been told I might have a tumour on my right ovary as the pain on the right side and across my back is unreal. I feel so lost and I feel like they have no idea what is going on so they keep fobbing me off with tablets and saying that time will help us to tell whats going on. I am only 22 and has all this going on whilst trying to do a degree. Please share experiences or guidance. Thanks

Mirena pelvic pain
I'm 28 and just had a laparoscopy two weeks ago and had Mirena put in. I'm now in constant pain! Really terrible lower abdomen cramps and sharp shooting pains, even down the backs of my legs...Like the worst times of my always incredibly heavy and painful periods, but constant. I now have no insurance and don't know what is wrong but i know something isn't right. Help?! Ps I have only had one pregnancy and it ended in a miscarriage at ten months. Is Mirena even the right choice for me? I'm so lost and hurting.

Been there! I was shocked after exams, ultrasounds, and scans that my doc wanted me to see a urologist. She recognized the symptoms to something I had never heard of right away. She ruled out what she had to and told me who she needed me to see. The urologist didn't think my systems were typical of the disease in question, but when I mentioned a history of traces of blood in my urine and told him she was hoping he would agree to go in and look the same time she did exploratory surgery for endo and adhesions he said " if she wants to and you have had Heine tests reporting blood before.... lets do it at the same time." He was shocked and she was unequivocally right. I had severe Intersticial Cystitis. 25% of my bladder was covered in Hunner's Ulcers. That was the best experience I have ever had dealing with doctors. I will forever be grateful for the quick diagnosis and knowlegable physicians. Most people fight with doctors and are forced to search out help because no one finds anything. Ask your doc about this. My symptoms were not the usual symptoms that most people complain of. So thankful. I love that woman!

I finally found a place I can tell my story! I'm just praying and hoping someone will listen and help me! It is going on 6 years now that I"m trying to get answers. I had a hysterectomy, but still have my ovaries. I started developing right sided pelvic pain/ovary pain shortly after about once a month. Then after couple years it was getting more severe with pain control. I went to my regular doctor and they did u/s...found nothing. said it's normal. So then I started documenting when and how long it would hurt...and then went back...now just in Aug 2012 I went in to see ob/gyn dr./specialist and had external and interanl u/s...they found a couple little cysts but said it was normal again! my pain level is OFF THE CHARTS. No amount of pain meds works for this! I have tried the max dose for otc and narcotics that they have given me and they just tell me it basically in my head! WEll seriously!? No it's not! I'm heading to the U of MN in April to get a second opinion because this is ridiculous that they tell me, "there is now way those little cysts can be causing you this much pain." ummmmm DUHH! That's why I came to you! I"m so frustrated! Why if so many of us are having this problem they can't figure it out? For me it's only the right side/ovary. However I will tell you I have tried to rule out things....I have noticed that if I have an orgasm it takes away the pain for at least an HOUR...then it slowly comes back to full strength 24/7..Please someone help us!!!
