Hi, and thanks for your medical question on eHealth's Ask a Doctor forum.
If the pancreatic amylase was 25 U/L then it is normal value. This is the reason they did not go ahead with the surgery. Generally, when the gall bladder is not
functioning, crystals or stone form in the gall bladder. Hence if the gall bladder was not found to function, a few or a single stone must have been detected. Check this with your doctor. If this is the case then the pain can be explained by this.
However a shifting pain is generally due to gas and acidity. Antacids are more helpful in curing this. It could also be due to constipation, which can cause shifting pain. Such a pain can also be due to inflammatory bowel condition such as ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, Celiac disease (gluten intolerance), lactose intolerance or IBS or irritable bowel syndrome. Severe acidity with gastric reflux can also be a cause and so also worms in stool.
Since a confirmed diagnosis cannot be given on net please discuss these possibilities with your doctor once. It would be a good idea to consult a gastroenterologist. Hope this helps. Take care!
