I have had an ongoing stomach condition for the past 4 years which is getting progressively worse. This started off with occasional attacks of severe pain in my upper abdomen, swelling of this area and the skin feeling extremely hot, severe back ache, with the need to open bowels and not being able to do so, sickness and vomiting but not always. These would last for several hours, usually at night. It was too painful to lie down during these attacks. Doctor diagnosed a stomach infection and I had blood tests for gallbladder, liver problems etc which were clear. A few years passed with more frequent attacks and more symptoms. I now have a constant pain on my right hand side from the middle to lower ribs. I also have some pain on the left hand side under the ribs (although not as severe as the right) When I lie on my back I feel like there is a weight on the front right hand side of my upper abdomen and a very tight feeling (almost like my ribs or stomach are going to burst). The dr suggested there might be something wrong with my gallbladder. I have had an ultrasound scan which showed no stones, or gall bladder or pancreatic or liver problems. I have taken a 4 week course of Lanzoprazol which kept some "attack" symptoms at bay but the pain in still there. Any ideas or suggestions as I can't really stand much more of this and the diagnosis is very slow in coming.
