hi, i didnt really know where to post
this, couldnt find a forum for chest pain!
lol.
so for the last 7 days or so iv had really
bad chest pain on my left side over my
heart area. i went to the doctor who was
rubbish and said all sounded normal in my
lungs and it was probably due to drinking
too much caffeine. i knew that wasnt what
it was but have since cut out all caffeine
to prove its not that! then i went to A
and E coz i was in so much pain and the dr
hadn't done anything. they did ECG and
chest xray and bloods which were all
normal. However my blood pressure was
rather high - 156/96 which is unusual for
me, and my pulse was high. they said it
could be a response to pain, but i thought
that usually made bp go down? so they
concluded that although i could have
sprained some sort of muscle, they thought
it was indigestion. I know its not
indigestion but hey gave me some antiacid
pills which i took and havent helped at
all! so not that.
the pain comes and goes, its hard to
explain how it feels but its not made
worse by moving which u would have thought
it would if it were a sprain. not made
worse by eating. no stomach ache. any
ideas? it infuriates me that if nothing
shows up in tests they seem to think ur
making it up.
by the way im 23.

Do you find the chest wall tender or
painful when you press a finger at the
location of the pain?
Are you experiencing symptoms of coughing
or shortness of breath?
When do you usually get the worse chest
pain?
Do you get excessive acid coming up into
the esophagus?

no it wasn't painful when pressing, it
feels like its deep inside.
i am not coughing, or it doesnt hurt more
if i do. initially it felt like it hurt to
breathe in deeply but im not so sure it
does now and no not really short of
breath.
no acid coming up that i believe, nothing
feels any different in the
esophagus/throat etc.
the chest pain isnt really made worse by
anything-albeit i havent tried exercising
since! moving doesnt make it worse and so
i didnt think it could be a muscle sprain.
it comes and goes at different times of
day, sometimes its bad at nights and
sometimes as soon as i get up.
today i feel like the ribs at my side
under my left arm is a little bit achey
but its a different sort of pain so may be
unrelated.

Some people can feel chest pains due to
neuropathy (any disease or malfunction of
the nerves).
How does the chest pain radiate?
Have you been tested for neuropathy with
nerve conduction studies or
electromyography?
One of the main reason for neuropathy is
diabetes.

they think because bloods etc havnt shown
anything it must be something like a
strained intercostal muscle. its just odd
i havnt done anything to strain a muscle
that i know of, and it doesnt hurt when i
stretch or cough etc.
i havnt got diabetes and i do check my
blood sugars at work (haha) which are
always fine.
the pain stays in the same place really,
over my heart area, which is like a
stabbing pain. and then sometimes around
the sides of my ribs and up to my arms i
get a more achy pain that could be a
strain. the two types of pain are
different. the heart area one signif
worse. muscular pain could take 6 weeks to
get better, but hasnt really got any
better so far and its been 3+ weeks.
no havnt had any nerve studies. what tests
do they do for that? had CPR bloods taken
the other day which apparently shows
inflamation, should get those results next
week, else i think theyr giving up with me
