Hello,

I have had this skin rash around a skin tag for about a week now. It was very itchy to begin with, but now it's just there and the slightest bit sensitive. The rash started small right around the tag, and got to the size it is now in about 3 days.

The rash is shiny (I only just shaved in hopes to alleviate any rubbing/heat/etc) and only slightly raised. It doesn't 'feel' any different than my normal skin when touching it.

any ideas?

I have not been using any deodorant for about a week, but its been the same deodorant Ive used for years.

Also, I have another exact same sized skin tag in the exact same area of my other arm which is just fine, so I'm not sure the tag itself makes any difference to the rash.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

Mo

Hi,

Welcome to the ehealthforum and I am really glad to help you out. Since this red rash has appeared suddenly, so there is a possibility of it being due to contact dermatitis .

Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin after consulting your doctor and also get prescribed some mild steroid cream. If the symptoms persist then the possibilities of dermatitis or heat rash have to be evaluated. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
