I'm confused

I can't find a forum for just thyroide - only this froum thyroid cancer.

Is underactive thyroid likely to develop into thyroid cancer

I have underactive thyroid and take 175mg of Thyroxin every day - byt over the past year I have had some very strange - new to me - symptoms

I have had weakness to my hips/legs causing me to collaspe - this happened nearly every day for 2 months early 08. Neurologist said 'It may never hapopen again' !

Dec 08 I had sever headaches for 2 weeks before getting pins and needles in my left arm and stiffness with pain, went to hospital and stayed a week as it spread from limb to limb but keep easing off but 5days later I was paralysed from the neck down.
I ahve had recurring arm stiffness and purpling of the the lower arms a few time. Again different Dr said 'It may never happen again' !!

Feb 15th09 I had tunnel vision which went total black - total about a minute - again in hospital, another Dr said 'it may never happen again' !!!

18th Feb09 - hospital with chest pains and uncontrollable shaking from neck down.
that's right .... 'it may never hapopen again'!!!! so I told the Dr that Ive been told this 4 times in less that a year!!!!!

All Drs are stumped - now waiting to go back to a Neurologist - one I have already seen.

CT scan clear Dec08
Lumber Puncture clear Dec08
MRI clear Jan09

Could this be my thyroid playing me up?

Ive only been in my new job fro 6months and been told that Occupationsl Health will decide if I am fit for work - I was off 6 weeks Dec/Jan09 then luckily it was the school half term holiday when I was in hospital again middle of Feb09 - a=so i didnt miss any work

Can anyone shine a light on me please

May not be thyroid
Is your hypothyroidism well controlled? Are your blood tests normal? If so, it seems unlikely to me that you would have such severe symptoms. You can have milder symptoms when your tests come out "normal," but this seems like a symptom of something else.

No, hypothyroidism does not cause thyroid cancer. Plus, thyroid cancer usually doesn't produce symptoms.

If you don't want to go back to a specialist you have already seen, find another one. If there is a primary care doctor you trust, go to him or her.

Regardless of who you see, do not let them dismiss you or your symptoms. I made that mistake before. Sometimes doctors can't handle it when they don't know what's wrong. Don't be intimidated. Don't be afraid to insist they take you seriously and find what's wrong. When things keep happening, don't let them just tell you that it probably won't happen again. Remember, they are just people and you are paying them.

Good luck.
