Hi
Welcome to the forum!
Since you have not had periods for 2-3 years (it has not bought on my periods as i have not had one for 2-3 yrs), you probably have what is medically called secondary amenorrhea or stopping of periods secondary to something.
Polycystic ovarian syndrome/disease is one of the commonest causes of secondary amenorrhea and could also be present in your case. Thyroid dysfunction as you have is another common cause. Pituitary tumors, anxiety and depression, sudden weight loss are the other causes.
Though your apprehension (dont want to go to the gyaenocologist because i know what they do to the womens thing and it makes me cringe) is understandable, you must also realize that without consulting a gynecologist you will not be able to start a family. Also no medication can be prescribed without a clear picture of the underlying problem.
Hope this helps. Take care!
