Hello all mothers

My baby in first 2 weeks cried all the time, and even after nursing her every one or two hr for hrs she left hungry, as i assume by her crying. she lost her weight rapidly. I was having poor health and can only drink 3 glass of milk a day only, as i didnt feel like eating. Although my breasts leaked and seemed full, i only gather 2 oz whenever i pump though not every often. When i pump after 2 days i gather around 4 oz. anyway, I started formula and eventually my milk supply decreases. Now after 7 months i only have 1 oz when i manual pump.

I feel ashamed and guilty of not breastfeeding my daughter exclusively. i dont think i can produce enough milk. dont know why, althou just after delivering my baby my breast were huge and hard. My milk leaked from my breast and soaked my shirts so much that i had to change at least 5 shirts per day. many a times i dont change. anyone has idea what went wrong then?

If you want you can resume breast feeding your baby. There are herbs that boost your milk supply and you can pump to get it out.

When you pump you need to make sure you have the right size of nipple shield and the right amount of suction. It goes off of how you feel when you pump if it hurts turn it down a little then pump with that settting.

It could be that when you were engorged your baby had a hard time latching on or when the baby did latch on it sprayed to hard and caused her to come off. Also you would need to drink more fluids and eat when you breastfeed. Drs also recommend a prenatal vitamin when you breastfeed as well to make sure you and baby are getting enough nutrition. I hope this helps Smile

Thank u IceRayven.

I've madela electric breast pump as well as avent manual pump. I was satisfied with both but i dint pump that much as i gave up. and that was my mistake. i dont know whatever the reason was, my question is can i increase my milk flow after 7 months of not breastfed my child exclusively? my diet is pretty much fine now. But my daughter just use my breast to sleep only, anyway can i produce milk now using breast pump after 7 months????

please, if anyone has any idea or knowledge about that, do let me know.

thank u so much

yes you can restart feeding her. You would have to eliminate the formula and have her nurse exclusively from the breast..she might get frustrated but it would boost your supply. Also people have good responses to fenugreek and blessed thistle to help breast milk supply. Also you can pump when she goes down for a nap and morning and night. It will be a lot of work but worth is.

I also recommend a nursing vacation where you stay at home for 2 days or more if you can afford it and give her no solids and just nurse nurse nurse. I have nursed my baby for 15 months and still on going. Just remember just because you dont get a lot out with the pump doesn't mean your baby isn't. Your baby is MUCH more effective then a pump
