Q: Ultrasound on Kidney Cyst

One year ago I had a CT due to pain in my abdomen. They found a cystic lesion on my right kidney. They then did an MRI and said it was slightly complex. This February they did another MRI and now want me to have an ultrasound. What I don't understand is, according to my research, it seems that an ultrasound is not as informative as an MRI. Why would they want to now give me an ultrasound after an MRI with contrast? Isn't it working backwards in a way? Can anyone answer this? I am getting nowhere from my doctor until they do the test!!!

They might remove or biopsy the cyst and you need to see where you are going during those procedures and it is the easiest on the doctor and the patient is to use ultrasound.

I was wondering the same
it seems they are doing my tests backwards...the mri of spine showed incidental cyst, so they ordered a cat scan, and now they want to do an ultrasound...why backwards
