Q: Ulcer treatment with carafate

I think it is an ulcer I have...I went to the doctors and they said that was it but I have been taking the carafate for 4 weeks and it does not seem to be helping...and some days are better then some...What should I do?

I believe you were told to take this drug up to eight weeks, since that's the common duration of short-term treatment of an active duodenal ulcer with this drug.
Some patients will have improved symptoms and their ulcers will heal with sucralfate during the first week or two, but, others will have to complete the treatment up to eight weeks.
