For the average healthy adult, the recommended maximum dose of acetaminophen over a 24 hour period is four grams (4000 mg), however, this is a drug that has a rather narrow safety window. Acetaminophen overdose is the leading cause of acute liver failure.

Do you have other painkiller options?

Not really...afraid of NSAIDs due to history of ulcers. Dr prescribes darvocet n100s for neck pain. I take about 6 a day = nearly 4 grams of tylenol, 650 mgs of tylenol in each. I am frightened - my urine is dark at times.

I'd suggest that you speak with your doctor about your concerns! Please let us know what is recommended and how you follow up. Good luck!!!
