What could it be??? Please help me to figure it out, I have two years of facial pains.

My Symptoms are:

1. Pain is constant 24 hours a day, both sides of the face, left side is more active. Pain feels like pressure and tightening behind the bones. The pain is in the nose (like the bones are growing), eyes, around eyes, near ears, upper cheeks, forehead, the jaw and radiate to teeth. eyebrows and temples .Occasionaly feels pain in the neck.

2. Temperature affects pain, e.g hot day with humidity, hot shower, doing physical activity helps, etc.

3. Position has effect: standing is more comfortable than sitting, lying down is more painful and upside down is worse.

4. Drinking alcohol helps to relieve the pain.

5. Pain since appearing two years ago has spread, gaining more facial area with time.

6. Vibrations e.g being in a moving car for a long time makes it worse because of vibrations emitted.

If any of you have similar symptoms, if you think you know what it is, or what it could be, please let me know.
I would appreciate it greatly.

Thanks Shaul

I am a dental student with only some experience working with patients describing similar pain. I recommend that you see your GP and ask for a referral to an orofacial pain specialist. It is important that some basic scans and tests are done to eliminate lesions in the head or neck (which are rare.) From here, a lot can be done to help you manage your pain. You should definitely seek a GOOD (suitably qualified) medical opinion on this. Your condition sounds quite debilitating and in my experience, can be managed in a variety of ways. Good luck.
