Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
Few women experience spotting/brown discharge few days before starting with actual periods. The underlying cause is believed to be the hormonal changes causing changes in endometrial lining. If symptoms like foul smell, itching, discomfort etc are associated, then the brown discharge/spotting could suggest possibility of infection. Consider visiting your doctor/gynecologist at the earliest for thorough evaluation to look for the underlying cause. Treatment as appropriate (based on examination findings and investigations results) would be started to help you regulate your periods. Be in regular monitoring and follow-up with your treating doctor/gynecologist and report any new/abnormal symptoms immediately. Drink plenty of water. Take adequate rest. Maintain healthy diet and lifestyle.
Take care.
