Q: twitching nerves

There are nerves in my body that twitch all the time and it could be anywhere. I can touch that part of my body and feel them jump through my skin and sometimes it's very hard,rapid and irregular and other times it's slow and steady like a heartbeat and it can go on in one place for days or hours or a few minutes. I want to know why this happens?
