I have a question that I've been searching for an answer for for a long time but I have no idea where to start. I'm 23 years old and had my first child 8 months ago. I was diagnosed with postpartum cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure. I was told I am a severe case and should not become pregnant again because I and/or the baby could die. I was looking into either tubal ligation or a hysterectomy but I'm not sure which would be better?

Hi crice and welcome to ehealth: First and foremost, I am sorry for your problem...Having checked on the two remedies as well as having had a Hysterectomy, I would opt for the Tubal Ligation...With the Tubal Ligation there is still a 5% chance of this happening, but the same goes with the Hysterectomy...The only difference is the pregnancy would be Ectopic with the Hysterectomy....

Talk this over with your OB-GYN...Get his/her thoughts on this...Take care...
