Me and my partener have been TTC fro over 18 month. After numerous tests found out in June that I have PCOS, I am on my 2nd round of 50mg Chlomid, and after my first was told (after day 21 blood test) that the tablets were working.
I am happy they are working, but still have that agonising feeling every month as I am coming upto day 28 - 30.
I would be grateful for any tips from anyone on better chances of concieveing. We are "doing it" every day, or every other day AT LEAST im always keeping legs up after ejaculation and have tried various positions that people have recommended. Does anyone have any other tips for us, Many thanks sunny rainbow

Did he have his sperm counts checked before you started taking Clomid? Are they within the range needed for a pregnancy? It's an easy test and important or you could be taking all these meds for nothing. Sounds like you're doing everything else you can.

Like applegreen said, his sperm count and quality is really important. If it is low, ejaculation every second day is preferable to every day.

If you are using lubrication make sure it is sperm friendly (like Pre-Seed).

It helps if you have an orgasm within 45 seconds of him ejaculating (before or after). Research has shown that sperm can get up into the fallopian tubes to the egg within seconds when this happens. (And it is more fun for you Smile )

Your partner needs to avoid getting his "equipment" too warm. Heat is the enemy of sperm. Looser underwear and staying away from hot water (spa/hot bath) will help.

A healthy lifestyle - The egg begins to prepare for ovulation as far as 3 cycles in advance. Anything unhealthy (drugs, alcohol, ..) can affect it in those 3 months.

You need to learn to track your ovulation with either ovulation kits or basal body temperature (BBT) and cervical mucus.

Timing baby making sex around your ovulation is the primary way to increase your chances if everything else is good. (It is actually not only the primary way but the only way to get pregnant from normal sex.) If you know when ovulation gets close, you can do what you are doing and make sure you time sex right.

The rest of your cycle you can then have sex for fun. That way you take some pressure off your partner to perform. Men normally get pretty bored quickly with just the vanilla baby making sex and that can put a strain on your relationship.

Best of luck!!

No, not the test kits (as you say, it can be expensive) but I do track my BBT and cervical mucus and it is fairly accurate.

No, I've never tried the kits but my doctor says they are quite accurate. I did try the BBT and cervical mucus method as well as the saliva method which was accurate for me.

The saliva method looks for "ferning" on a tiny pocket microscope. Ferning is when you look at your saliva and it looks like fern leaves.

But if you're on clomid, isn't your doctor following you closely to time your ovulation? You should be getting regular ultrasounds and bloodwork. Your doctor should be able to tell you exactly when you will and have ovulated.
