Q: Trouble Orgasming / Nuvaring

I hope someone can help me with this. I've been on Nuvaring for about a month and a half now, and in that time I have noticed that I am having EXTREME trouble orgasming. My sex drive hasn't dropped very much, maybe a little. But I just can't seem to get off. I will get very very very close many times over, but then as soon as I reach the point where it seems like I may cum, it just -- poofs -- is gone and I'm back to square one.

I know it isn't just my b/f either because even when using my vibrator (which I used to no lie be able to have dozens of orgasms one after another for hours at a time with) I am having the exact same problem. I can achieve with a TON of work, about one MAYBE two orgasms with my vibrator now. Two only on a good day. Now granted it is still easier with the vibrator, but I am still confronted with the same problem. My boyfriend is against the idea of using the vibrator together though, and I understand, since it makes him feel like he's not really part of it.

It seems like to actually achieve an orgasm I have to concentrate as hard as I possibly can, and it has to be the same repeated motion without disturbance for an extended period of time with no interruptions. Which as anyone knows is pretty much impossible for a human to do. So my poor boyfriend is getting frustrated. He's gotten me off a few times within the past weeks but only after a very long time of working at it, maybe 30-40 mins? Maybe an hour even. He gets tired and I get frustrated and I stress about him having to work at it so much. This only adds to the difficulty of getting off, and in the end neither of us are really happy. He's exhausted and while I may have orgasmed it's not really that satisfying or releasing because of all of the stress and exhausting mental work involved in it for me.

So I hope someone can help me! I'm getting desperate. I'm enjoying the freedom of sex without a condom on Nuvaring. I've been on almost every pill out there and all of them have awful side effects like break through bleeding and things like that. The ring is convenient and gives me none of those side effects and I feel safe on it. But the unable to orgasm thing is getting old fast. I don't want to rely on only condoms to keep me from conceiving though!

So if anyone can give me ANY advice, let me know if they are having similar problems on the ring, or just offer any other insight, please let me know! I thank you soooo much in advance for your reply!!! (And for reading this crazy long ass post).

Try a diaphragm...
Well, I used the diaphragm for years and I loved it!
It has to be fitted by the doctor, mine cost 50 dollars about 15 years ago, and I used it with a spermicidal cream. I didn't find it a problem putting it in, but then again, I wasn't having sex 20 times a day either...
All the products that release hormones into the human body will have potential side effects, whether it be a pill, an IUD, a patch...
With the diaphragm there's also the spermicidal cream, but in my opinion it's not as bad as hormones which can deregulate our bodies!

Re: Trouble Orgasming / Nuvaring
I am going thru the EXACT same thing, which is why I was researching it and found your post. I've talked to my doctor about it (who is a MALE) and he thought I just needed "different external means for exciting myself". That is not the case and I'm so glad I read your comment, because more and more I'm becoming convinced that it's the Nuvaring that's causing me this problem. It's never happened to me before, but just like you said.....EVERYTIME I'm just about "there", it DISIPATES.

Same problem
This is exactly what is happening to me. I have been with my boyfriend for 5 1/2 years and I've never ever had a problem orgasming. I used to be able to go so fast within the first 5 mins... now we can go for 45 and i'll get close but nothing will happen Sad I liked the nuva ring because I finally am able to lose weight on it after struggling with weight gain from the pills. I am getting off of it .. its way too frustrating dealing with this.. then I have the fear that I'm not going to have one again and I worry about it every time we have sex. I'm glad im not the only one Smile
