I heard someone mention that certain things can trigger the onset of BP. Can anyone share what kinds of things might trigger it?

For me I would have to say "rude". Rude people set me off like a kite in the sky. You don't want to see me in one of my manic screaming fits around a down right rude person.

Without a mood stabilizer, antidepressants may trigger mania in people with bipolar disorder. (Keep in mind that people with bipolar disorder II may be misdiagnosed with depression only because they do not experience full-fledged mania. If these patients take antidepressants without mood stabilizers, it can trigger a manic episode.)

She spend 5 days in the hospital and the diagnosis came down. Until the med mix was found she spend a good 6 months severely bi-polar, it was painful to watch.

We were told that bi-polar disorder can lay dormant for years and then a sudden traumatic event will trigger it. And it did....
