Q: Treatment for ingrown hairs
asked by: DoctorQuestion on November 23rd, 2008
I have not had a gf for many years. now i finaly have one and we were going to have sex so i shaved my penis and pubic area. when i did i found 9 small bumps. right at the base of my penis and two just on the beging of the shaft of the penis two of them are hard and have hair growning out of them. 5 more are not hard but still not normally skin almost a bump, and have hair growning out of them. the other two are just bumps. they are skin colored, they do not hurt, turn red, itch or bleed. i do not go tanning i am pretty sure the sun has never hit me down there in the last ten years. i am not sure what they are but i know they where not there a few years ago. i have not had sex for many years and have been tested since i did last so i know it is not a std. i have a doctors appoint but it could not get in for many weeks. i was wondering if you could shed any light on what they might be.

Given the symptoms you provided, you might be experiencing several ingrown hairs. The ingrown hair has several outcomes. It can exit on the skin surface without any help at all. Ingrown hair can stay in the skin causing inflammation in the surrounding tissue. The bumps will turn more red, bigger and become painful. The bumps can be filled with pus. In that case, a visit to a doctor who will perform an incision (little cut on the skin) to release the pus is recommended.
