A boil (furuncle) is a bacterial infection of the hair follicle. It is usually treated with antibiotics orally and locally. Cold compresses applied locally may help, too. Surgical intervention-incision can be requested. You shouldn’t pop the boil by yourself! You may want to visit your GP.
