Q: Treating foot pain

I have severe pain in my second toe left foot. It started a few weeks ago for no apparent reason. There is no swelling or pain on ball of foot. I purchased insoles to go in my shoes and was advised through another web site to put molefoam padding cut to fit on the bottom of the insoles under my second toe area. It has not helped at all. Can you?

Do you wear high heels? Does the area hurt if you squeezed your foot at the sides? If so, you may need to see a podiatrist and possibly get an x-ray.

If that doesn't hurt then you may try mobilizing the metatarsals of your foot. You can do this by grabbing each long bone of your instep and moving it up and down while moving the long bone adjacent to it in the opposite direction. Do this for each of the long bones 3 times a day. You may consider consulting with a podiatrist first though if this causes pain or discomfort.
