Hi there,
looking for any ideas here. The end of
jan started to itch my thighs, no rash,
just itch. Itched so hard it bruised,
eventually went to my calves and forearms
which I itched so much I had rashes that
had some open sores.
Went to the regular dr first, got an
antihistamine, didn't touch it. After a
month of itching and it getting worse went
to dermatologist and he finally put me on
prednisone, this completely cleared it up
and was the only 2 weeks in 4 months that
I haven't itched. After it coming back
after one day off the prednisone the
dermatologist took skin to test it, called
it dermatitis -- irritation of the skin,
really, no kidding....And also did blood
tests. Nothing, he then sent me to the
allergist. So go to the allergist and he
puts me on doxepin (antidepressant), said
I should start feeling relief in 7 days,
did a bit, and should be done in 30 days.
He said my skin is just senstive because
of my allergies. Also using betamethasone
salve to apply to affected areas.
Well now the weather kicked the heat up a
notch this last week, 80-90 degrees and
the minute I get hot I am itching and get
bumps and welt up. So have had to up the
meds from 2 a night to 3, told I should
get relief. So far nothing.
So this whole time just feel itchy, it has
covered all my body at some point except
hands, feet and face/head, only get rash
where I scratch. And to make it even more
'twilight zone' I found out this last
friday that my daughter's brownie troop
leader has been experiencing this same
exact thing, same time started itching,
same affects with prednisone, and we are
both just miserable. We live about 4
blocks from each other. She also has
never had allergies her whole life. Could
it be the water?? Could it be something
in the air? Please help!!

Traveling Skin Rash Posted: 08-13-07 16:05pm
Hello,
I have experienced similar and had no
relief. Just curious if you have found
something that worked long term.
I suspect that I may have something
similar to my mother, an allergy to
certain foods including onion (any form)
and certain food preservatives, but have
not had this medically verified as she
has.
Thank you!

Could Be a Tick-borne Illness Posted: 10-20-07 21:41pm
When I got Lyme disease and a Lyme
co-infection, babesiosis, I got a
traveling itch and rash in the beginning,
along w severe flulike illness. I also
know someone w Lyme who got the traveling
itch. It was dismissed by doctors as
"stress." Please get tested for Lyme and
co-infections. Babesiosis is a common
co-infection of Lyme and is treated with
antimalarials such as Malarone. It won't
be killed by any amount of antibiotics.
Lyme tests aren't totally reliable so if
you continue to be ill, see an ILADS
(ilads.org) Lyme specialist. I think you
should also be tested for other
insect-borne diseases.
