I'm a 35 year old male and I suffer from Traumatic Masturbatory Syndrome. I've been masturbating face-down in this manner since I was 5 years old and I lost my virginity when I was 29. Despite the loss of my virginity, I was never able to ejaculate during intercourse, only when I was masturbating face-down. After being with my ex-girlfriend for three years, I broke up with her for various reasons and now I want to cure myself of TMS. What course of measure should I undertake? Are there techniques or ways to help me reprogram or "reboot" my masturbating habits? Is it advisable for me to consult with a sex therapist?

Hello,
I am going through this myself. I read a site entitled Healthy strokes.com and it says that the cure is to simply recondition yourself on how to masturbate the normal way.
The penis has gotten accustomed to the traumatic fashion therefore you have to acclimatise it to the traditional (by hand). For us the traumatic seems more pleasurable because it guarantees a quick result, but you really have to just start pleasuring yourself until you can masturbate correctly.
My problem has been delayed orgasm. I get aroused EASILY (no erectile dysfunction whatsoever); however, it takes me forever to cum unless I do it the way I've been doing it.
Therefore, I've officially scheduled myself to masturbate again this friday (five days without it)and get on the road to recovery.
Today I slipped up and masturbated again, so I'm going to refrain from sexual stimuli until I can start my recovery.
Thanks for sharing. Good to know that I am not alone.
