Q: Transmission of the Chlamydia virus
asked by: DoctorQuestion on April 7th, 2009
My oldest daughter ( shes 16 ) has been smoking cigarettes. She recently found out that one of the people that she shares with has chlamydia. Is it possible that she can get this disease through someone elses saliva?

Sexually Transmitted Diseases Answer A6299

Chlamydia is usually transmitted during sexual intercourse. It takes contact of body fluids with the mucous membranes in the anus, mouth, and genital area.

Chlamydia can be found in the saliva if the person is experiencing a throat Chlamydia infection. However, this is a very rare condition, especially if there is no other form of Chlamydia infection affecting other parts of the body. In the end, it is possible, but extremely rare, for Chlamydia to be transmitted via saliva.

id like to ask. is it normal that i have discharge everyday? it white and sticky sometimes its watery. no odor. i cant tell if it itch because i just felt it like 1 time or twice only.. i notice i have discharge a few days after my menses wear of and continues until the next menses comes along. i was treated with an injection form of drug IM i forgot the name and an oral drug of AZITHROMAX 1000MG 1 time dose. the doctor said i might have had chlamydia thats why she gave me that do you think if she treated me with the drugs she gave me? do you think i still have the infection? how about other std that comes along with it? please answer my question i know its a bit complicated thanks! ill wait

p.s. before i was treated i was treated for a fungal infection but never responded for anti fungal meds including oral DIFLUCAN which lasted more than 1 year. until i got the dull pain on my right pelvic and got treated by another doctor . but now i am afraid that i might still have an infection
