Transformed Migraines Posted: 04-21-08 15:48pm
Has anyone ever heard of Transformed
Migraines? My Neurologist diagnosed me
with this today. I've been suffering with
chronic, severe migraines for most of my
life. As a teen, they came once or twice
a month...NOW...I'm literally in constant
agony and I cannot function. He has taken
me out of work for two weeks. (will
probably have to extend it b/c the meds
aren't helping and I can't work while on
these strong medications) I'm currently
taking...
100 mg Topamax (1 x day) migraine
prevention
75 mg Lyrica (3 x day) migraine
prevention
500 mg Nabumetone (3 x day) for pain
FIORICET (for pain)
*Also getting injections of Litocane in my
head weekly b/c I'm in so much pain*
He is going to gradually take me off the
Topamax, I think, b/c it really isn't
helping me at all...obviously! Any advice
on how I can live my life with this
disorder. I'm in constant pain (The pain
meds don't relieve the paind for long) and
I can't live on pain meds for the rest of
my life. That scares me.
I'm only 25 and I feel like I'm SOOO much
older. I don't know what to do or how to
deal with this. I'm going broke from all
the meds and doctor visits and now I can't
work. I feel like I'm losing it.
Any help is appreciated...
Desperate...

The pain is throbbing. But it's more of a
contstant throbbing pain. It does not
decrease in severity. Actually, it gets
worse as the Migraine persists. I also
have light/noise/smell sensitivity as well
during my attacks wish are now daily and
only relieved for brief periods of time by
strong pain killers or by injections of
Litocane into my head by my Neurologist.
Thanks very much for your response.

Have you been to an allergist? Severe
migraines that are constant can be the
result of allergies that you are not aware
of. It is worth a shot to try to find the
source for the pain. There are studies
that show magnesium 250mg to 500mg daily
will help with migraine pain. B2 is also
effective for some people. Both are cheap
and are water soluble so they are not
stored in the body. Hope this helps.

Is this headache consistent in its
severity and its location?
Is it a daily less severe headaches
punctuated by severe and debilitating
Migraine attacks?
