Q: Torn abdominal muscle healing ?

About a month ago, I pulled my inner thigh muscle (groin included) and bruised from my groin all the way down to my knee. That healed up quite nicely, went back to my "normal" activities of bowling and golf, but immediately had a sharp pain in my abdomen. The pain was so sharp and intense, I ended up at the Emergency Room last Thursday, thinking appendicitis. All tests came back normal and they gave me Percocet for the pain. By Saturday, I couldn't stand or walk and found comfort only in laying down. I ended up back at the ER, and again, they couldn't find anything wrong. Monday, I went to a Gastric-Internist who wanted to do a Colonoscopy on Tuesday, but also wanted me to see a Surgeon before the procedure. Saw the Surgeon who informed me that I had torn my abdominal muscle. Is this a common "after-affect" from pulling my thigh muscle? The pain isn't as bad (they have me on 800 mg Ibuprofen), but one doesn't realize how you use your abdomen with every move you make. The pain radiates from my lower back all the way around to my right side of my abdomen. Are there any exercises I should be doing to strengthen this? Or is this something that will heal with time?
