Got Shot 2 Weeks Ago
I got my cortisone shot about 2 weeks ago. The shot was not all that painful except for a lot of pressure for about 20 seconds while the cortisone is released. For the next 30 minutes I did not feel any pain. After about 30 minutes I was home and started feeling the swelling along with constant pain. On a scale of 1-10 it was about a 9. I could not move any of my fingers or my wrist with out crying. This pain lasted for about 48 hours until the swelling started to go down. The only time it was not at a 9 (pain level) was when I had an ice pack on it with Advil in my belly. The pain was at a 5-7 during that time. After the swelling went down I had very little to no pain at all. Just recently when I reach for something or move my wrist too fast I can feel my nerves move and jolt. It is the weirdest feeling ever. It starts to tingle for about 20 seconds and then stops.

Good luck in your injections or surgery if you choose do to it. I decided on the injection to see if it works. Smile

CT shot
Sad Confused Surprised Rolling Eyes
I had the shot yesterday, a little discomfort when the medicine was going in, doc froze the injection spot, hurt like h*** about two hours later-----still hurting today not as bad I could slap the doc, but you never know if it will help until you try. After the pain started, could not move my fingers, hand or wrist without EXTREME PAIN!!!!!, today I can move my fingers, but when my wrist bends it hurts----not as bad, hopefully it will help after all of this FYI do not get it in the hand you use most until you know what it will do to you. Good luck, I would try it, it may help. I take lortab for pain, so see if doc will give you pain meds, not that it works that well, but a little relief, I found that heat helped me better than ice.

CTS shot one week ago
I had my shot done 1 week ago in my right hand. I use my right hand constantly and I am still having a lot of pain . The majority of the time , it is unbearable. I called the doctor twice and was told that it was normal to be in pain and that it will eventually subside. It's one week now and I still have pain. IĆ¢??ve iced it and tried a heating pad but when I stop, the pain would be worse than when I started. I am miserable and cannot sleep.

It has been my experience that heat is the worst thing to use when in pain....Ice may help, but I have given up on this...I just go back to my wrist brace...When I am typing I baby it..Keep it flat on a lower pull out part of my office set up...I have three braces throughout the house....This way I can alternate using them depending upon how it feels...They are all the same......I do this so that when it feels stronger, I let it out in the open...I don't want it to get too weak....I guess I play doctor with myself but it has worked....

Just my thoughts,
Caroline

I had my shots today, (one in each wrist). It stung some, but after that there was no pain. They said it would take 3-4 days for it to take full effect, but I am already feeling some better. Don't know how long it will last, but a co-worker said she had hers 3 days ago and it is still working. I can't wait to see if I can sleep all night without pain.
Hope this helps.

Okay, the FIRST time I went for a cortosone shot, I was scared sh*tless. It hurt, and what was worse was I heard a popping noise. Yes the thumb went numb for awhile, and the pain was severe for a few days, but after all that went away, I actually liked having the shot done.

Since June, my thumb has progrssively gotten worse, and im scheduled in for another shot next Tuesday. My family doctor doesnt think that the inital shot worked.

After this shot, if it continues, I am opting for surgery.

Best of luck to you, and I hope that your injection helps. Ibprofin is your best bet for afterwards. it reduces the inflammation.

Cheers

I had a shot and it hurt like a son of a gun, it swelled and turned red. Two days later my arm sunk in and turned purple and red for good!!!! The shot ate away the fat tissue and muscle content in my arm and theres nothing that can be done about it. This happened to my elbow for tennis elbow, but the risk is there. now my bone sticks out of my arm, its discolored, sunk in, and hypersensitive! Any sort of touch to the area gives me chills it fells like I have a big scab there and it hurts. Even if I lightly bump it on woodwork or a fridge it bleeds really bad on the inside of my skin and I drop to my knees and cry because the pain is so intense. Think about your next cortizone shot im sure the doctors wont tell you that side effect!

I forgot to mention, not only is my arm ugly and gross from the shot, but I also got slapped with a 5lb perm. restriction because of the condition of my arm because of the shot. Now I have to go in for a nerve block through my neck to try to help the pain that I have in my arm because of the shot which I was told my right eye will then droop because of the nerve block, thats how they know they got the right nerve! And I might need a series of 3 of these shots in my neck so the pain will hopefully go away because of the one bed cortizone shot I had. Remember cortizone is not all its cracked up to be and be sure to ask your doctor about side effect i've had them before and since in other places this one just went really wrong and they said it was because the area wasn't that big and the elbow is really small, so be sure to ask if this could happen to you.
