Q: Brain Tumor ? Severe headache + eye squint + double vision
asked by: DoctorQuestion on July 11th, 2007
Hi, my brother (21 years) is suffering from squint in left eye from last 1 month, and his left hand side nerves are also not responding properly (As per the constancy from Neurologist). This started with severe headache. He has perfect 6/6 eyesight. We have got the CT scan done, no symptoms for brain tumor, but his squint is not improving. Can anyone help me regarding this and tell me what exactly this situation is and how can we get him cured. If any one have ay experience regarding this, please share it with me, we are in great trouble as no one is giving us proper direction.

Neurological Disorders Answer A3115
Your brother’s diplopia (double vision) seems to be due to the squint (strabismus). A strabismus is due to bulbar muscle paralysis. The bulbar muscles are the muscles that move the eye. A sudden occurrence of strabismus can be caused by a brain disorder. Muscle weakness of one hand can be also due to some type of localized brain disorder. Brain tumor is one of the possibilities. Besides a CT-scan, you can also request an MRI of the brain to help diagnose the situation.
