(warning - this is gross) Embarassed

I went #2 this morning and noticed a large amount of red blood in the stool and on the tissue. I went again, a total of about 3 times today and there was an equal amount if not more blood. It did slow down and stop though, but I have not had another bowel movement since so I don't know if it is still going on. I haven't had any recent straining or constipation.

I am only 18 years old and eat plenty of fiber, I'm a vegetarian.

I'm afraid to go to the dr as I know the type of exam they will want to do, I suffered abuse for several months in that area 3-4 years ago and have only just stopped having the flashbacks and panic attacks.

What could this be? How long should I wait until I really have to see a doctor?

Extremely eHealthy
If you are that adamant about not seeing a physician right away, (and I can understand this) then give it a little while and see what happens the next time you have a movement. If it recurs, then you really need to go see someone. Be sure to adress your concerns about the previous abuse ahead of time so your provider will be sensitive to your issue. My first thought is possibly ulcer, but really it would be impossible for me to diagnose this over a forum. I hope this goes awway so that you won't have to face any invasive examinations. I hope you have been seen by a professional in regard to the abuse, though.

Go see someone that you feel comfortable with. Perhaps even a nurse practitioner if you are not comfortable with a doctor. But go see someone. It could very well be that you have an internal hemorrhoid that has just now ruptured. It could be something very simple but it really will ease your stress if you go and have it checked out. Please let us know what you have decided and what the outcome. You can do it!

I'm sorry you suffered abuse. I too was sexually abused as a child. Panic attacks are horrible things I know. I'm the same way about not wanting to be checked down there - but once you are in the office and talking about what's going on . . . you forget about that and start focusing on the task at hand. Perhaps you could also mention the sexual abuse - by the way - docs are held to a confidentiallty clause so don't worry about word getting out. Sometimes sexual abuse can even be culpurate of damaging things like this. Doctors hear it all and it isn't easy telling someone - but if anything it will make this doctor be extra nice and understanding with you about testing and things.

God bless you!
