I had the same problem and went to several doctors before one actually told me I have PCOS. Currently I'm on three different meds, one to control my insulin, one to start my period and one to ovulate. I've read that many people that have irregular periods might PCOS. Talk to your doctor to find out if you do.

If you dont mind me asking what medications do u take for ovulation? I have PCOS and take metformin. I used to bleed for 15-20 days in a row during menstruation. Thats reduced now to 7-8 days but I still dont ovulate. I am trying to conceive.

Right now i'm on metformin all month, Progesterone for 10 days, then Clomid for 5 days. This is my first round of Clomid though, I believe (depending on the doctor) each month and each round increases the dosage. The Progesterone jump-starts the period then the Clomid is supposed to help ovulate. Previously I was just on the Metformin for about 9 months and since I didn't get pregnant I went back to the doctor and told him I wanted Clomid. Supposedly for people with PCOS it's a long (and I think a little annoying with all the side different side-effects) process, so best wishes and good luck.

I have pcos and i have been seeing my doctor for over a year, i have been taking prometrium and clomid but neither have helped me ovulate does anyone know if there is any other options to have a baby i have been married 8 years and it is getting very depressing.

I think metformin is the drug that some doctors use for people with PCOS. It regulates periods and helps ovulation also. It helped regulate my periods but did not help me with ovulation. Combination of metofrmin and clomid helped me ovulate, but very late into my cycle.

Talk to your doctor to see what he/she considers appropriate for you. Also, have long have you been taking clomid? I think doctors dont like to go over siz cycles of clomid because of side effects. i have pcos as well my gyn started me on metformin for 6 months then ive been on the injections since then they are called gonnalf injections.plus im on metfomin.i do ovulate evey cycle.but its so hard to get pg.
