Jay and I were walking home from my parents house today with the puppy, when this dog came up to sniff her. I picked her up (always do cos you never know what strange dogs are like). It still jumped up on me Mad to sniff her.
It seemed friendly enough and had a collar on.
Afterwards I noticed his owner wasnt anywhere to be seen and he walked off wandering about on the street and roads. I called out to a few people nearby to ask if he was their dog, they all said no. I managed to catch upto it and check the collar. It had a tag on with a phone number to call if he gets lost. I didnt have a phone on me though and the dog started running off!

So jay chased after it with me and the puppy trying to keep up behind him. We followed it for 30 minutes Shocked past shops, houses and into the town park. Managed to catch upto it in there and it came over to see the puppy once I put her on the ground. I asked people in the park if they owned him or had a phone I could borrow to ring the owners. No and No.
No one seemed bothered and thought I should just leave it.

No way! I love animals, especially dogs. During the time we chased him, he walked into the road several times, almost got hit by 2 cars. There was no way I could just leave it to get run over.

So anyway I decided to put the puppys leash on the dogs collar, because he wouldnt let me hold him just by the collar. The nearest place I thought of to use the phone was the pet store a few streets away. I had to carry the puppy under one arm, almost dropped her, hold the leash in my other hand, and let jay cross the roads by himself Shocked

Luckily it turned out ok, we got there, they phoned for me. The owners turned up 10 minutes later.

What a nightmare! Probably doesnt sound it, but it was lol.

Thinking now, I should have just knocked on the nearest house door, explained the situation and asked to use their phone Rolling Eyes

i found a little pug puppy that was lost one time. well i dont know if it was a puppy, theyre pretty small dogs. he was so adorable i wished i could keep him. i took some pics of him while we waited for his owner to come. turned out his name was "frog" and his owner lived a few blocks away. he was so thankful to get him back.

We found our neighbors dog once right after we moved (but we didn't know it at the time.) His nails were so long they were curling and he had an eye infection. We asked around a the block and no one knew him so we called the non-emergency police (he had not collar) and they came and got him. It was sad he was obviously not taken care of, and we couldn't keep him i'm not allergic supposedly but I do react to dogs. Well a few days later my DH was talking with the neighbor and he was complaining about how much he had to pay to get his dog back. Serves him right, I hope he got fined for animal abuse.

Ah good for you for looking out for the little guy Smile

Too many people just sit back and think 'eh, someone else will deal with it'. You possibly saved that puppy's life Wink

Very true Jules people were around, they gave the dog a concerned glance and walked on. No one seemed bothered. Im glad I sorted it out, but at the time I was like what do I get myself into!? lol I must have looked a wreck in the pet shop after chasing it everywhere. I love dogs Smile
It wasnt in the best condition, it had patches of hair missing on its back and scabby skin.

When I was 11 I once spent about an hour herding someone's sheep (about 15 of them) back into a field after they had broken loose and were running amok in the town! Got some funny looks that day I can tell you! Laughing
