Treatment For Meibomian Cyst ? Posted: 07-10-07 05:38am
hi all
i dont know if anyone can help, a few
months ago i had a meibomian cyst (not
sure if i spelt that right) come up under
my eye, on the bottom lid. It was painful
and ended up being about the size of a pea
so looked awful. I went to the hospital
where they told me what it was, and
explained that it was caused by one of the
little tear ducts getting blocked,
probably due to the fact that i wear heavy
eye make-up.
I was given one course of antibiotics that
didnt clear it up, so i went to my doctors
who gave me a stronger course and tried to
drain the cyst with a needle. this helped
a bit although the cyst never completely
disappeared and i still had a very slight
bump.Since then ive had problems with the
area under my eyes swelling up so i look
like ive got severe bags under my eyes,
and have also had problems with my vision
being blurry, i thought i needed glasses
but when i went to the opticians she said
it was due to film covering my eye from
this cyst. She told me to bathe my eye
thoroughly everyday, but nothing is
working. today i woke up and it is very
painful and swollen and looks like the
cyst could be coming back, i could cry!!
Does anyone know anything about this or
have any advice for how i can get rid of
it once and for all? they did mention an
operation that would involve cutting the
inside of my eyelid but the thought of
this makes me squeamish! i would do it if
it would work though
thanks in advance

also called a chalazion...please..go see a
specialist..called an
OPTHALMOLOGIST...they are eye specialists.
Here in Canada I used to work with one and
he would get patients come in with this
problem. He would drain them...they are
granular substances inside..and it can be
fixed..so seek the appropriate help..and
good luck!
