Q: Any Doctor/nurse That Can Rip a Foetus Apart Is Sick
asked by: Jules on July 9th, 2007

I came upon the quote in the title on another abortion forum. It made me think. Please, no applause.

We often discuss abortion as being a right or wrong act on the part of the woman but what of the person required to perform that act? Are they cruel? Inhuman? Lacking compassion? Or are they saviours to desperate women, life-savers and professionals deserving respect? Question

They are providing a service women need. I'm sure they all do it for different reasons. I don't really think of them as saviors; just professional medical people doing their job in a somewhat risky environment.

I guess it is what you are capable of doing for a living. So people can do certain things and feel nothing about it while others couldn't. Some people would say they deserve respect while others would say get a real job you can feel good about doing.
I could not do it. And could not understand anyone that did.

They were there for you when you needed an abortion.

There are plenty of jobs out there I couldn't imagine doing, but are a necessary service to society/our communities.

Personally, I couldn't be a doctor performing abortions but that is because I couldn't be a doctor at all - to either humans or animals - because I can't handle blood/surgical situations (unless it's my own blood) and needles really gross me out. Being a surgeon or assisting in surgeries is something I could never do because of how much it disturbs me - but surgeons are needed.

Other people whose jobs I could never do: police officer, paramedic, firefighter, farmer, airplane pilot, butcher, fisherman, garbage collector.... I could go on and on.

I'm glad there are people with stronger stomachs who will do the jobs I can't imagine doing. Thank goodness for all of them!

Oh, I didn't mean it to be like that. Just a matter-of-fact statement rather than snide. It's hard to get that across in type. Smile

"Abortion doctors" are niether of those things. They are gynecologists, serving their patients wants and/or needs. People who go into health care take an oath that the patient will always be in charge and be making the decisions and we have to help them regardless of what we think or feel.

all i now is i couldnt do it
some one has to i suppose but its like those people who euthinize dogs or put animals to sleep taht are in shelters every day
they CHOSE to be what they are for a reson and i cant understand who would want a job of destroying any one or anythings life

people who perform the abortions went through that kind of schooling knowing what they were gunna do
they get up and go to work everyday knowing what theyre gunna do and the go home and go to sleep everynight knowing that tomarrow, they'll do it again

When a question is ask that mean you are being ask your opinion. This forum will not have anyone in here that disagree or feel different about things if eveytime they answer a question they get jumped on like they did something wrong just because they don’t feel the same way you do. Or something rude is said to them personally like you said to me. NO one is right in any of the debates. We are only speaking our feelings. And if we can't do that without getting pounced on with rudeness. Well, it will get pretty boring in here if the only ones in here are ones that agree with everything you say! What would there be to discuss?

I really have a problem with you making this statement. In another thread, you made the claim that women who have abortions will go to hell for killing their baby. Regardless of whether or not you think such an absurd thing, you had no business being rude and ignorant and plastering it here for women who have had abortions to read.

Do some growing up yourself.

The ironic thing here though, .Jude, is that meblonde herself has had an abortion. Birch was merely pointing out the fact that the medical personnel she "could never understand" helped her achieve hers (whether it was a medical or surgical abortion).

And it has been said already, by .Birch herself, that she meant nothing mean about pointing this out. It's strictly a fact.

I answered the question already. I believe they are medical professionals who are doing a job; nothing more, nothing less.

This is a debate forum. You post personal opinons, be prepared to hear responses you're not gonna like. If you want ponies and sprinkles, throw a birthday party. You should be able to defend your feelings.

You have time and time again refused to discuss your abortion experience. I'm not saying that you have to; but you cannot get all huffy when someone makes an assumption that, well, a professional provided you with an abortion. If you have something to add that will enlighten us, and perhaps see your point of view a little better, maybe you should share it.
