Q: Relationships And Religion

I have been with my boyfriend for a year and a half. We have a great connection and a wonderful relationship. Here comes the problem...he is a strict southern baptist, and I am a northern Catholic. We do not have the same beliefes and he told me that we have to be on the same page before we can marry and have a family. He doesn't want our children to have to choose to believe mommy or daddy when it comes to God. I didn't think religion mattered as long as you have God in your life and you do as God would like you to. I respect his belifs, but I also have my own. Is there a way to make our relationship work?

Isn't this point moot as your already pregnant?.............your willing to compromise, now it's his turn.....................slowly and gently, plant the seed of compromise and suggestion..................stubborn people require patience and time

Children that have been exposed to various religions will grow up wiser and more tolerant of everyone around them.....................and when they are old enough they can choose themselves Smile

good luck
I myself Went through that not too long ago..
He was a muslim and I was a christian who converted out of islam... I could of given up my God for love. But I choose to believe that God has his own plans for me. And now thats its over I have my closure. I prayed about this for so long... and in the End Gods will was done. After a month I find out he was still with his four year old girlfriend while I was with him for a year. ...
You CANT change the PAST, & you CAN'T let it stop you from going FORWARD! NO MATTER how bad it HURTS life GOES on..What's meant to be will ALWAYS find a WAY!

the only thng I can say is pray pray and pray... Don't try to plan out your life without making sure God is in the middle of it!!!

In the end you will have to answer Him..

Good luck!!

is there really THAT much of a difference between catholics and baptists? they both are christians, they both believe in the same God..how is this a problem?yea its different in some ways but so long as the child grows up in a christian environment isn't that the point? my boyfriend is catholic..i'm baptist..so its sort of opposite on my end..but i never really saw it as a big deal honestly...

they both are christians, they both believe in the same God. i never knew you could call them different religions, i always though it was different denominations of the christian religion. explain the difference? you can go to both churches with the same bible. the differences are small.
you should research the internet about what was the first christian religion and how other christian denominations came about. for example catholic, lutheran, baptist, ect.
