Q: Andomyosis / endometriosis + ovarian cancer
asked by: DoctorQuestion on July 8th, 2007
Have heard of other women being diagnosed with andomyosis that were treated with same procedures and same dr.. Should I be alarmed? We all have had the same symptoms including the feeling like our ovaries are exploding doubling over. I have ovarian cancer in my family and is another concern of mine.

Adenomyosis is endometriosis of the uterus. Symptoms of adenomyosis are painful menstruation (dysmenorrhea) and a larger amount of blood during mesntruation (hypermenorrhea). Endometriosis of the tubes and ovaries manifests with painful menstruation, pain before/after menstruation, irregular cycles, sterility etc. Given the symptoms you report, you could be experiencing endometriosis but this diagnosis should be confirmed with ultrasound examination and laparoscopy if necessary. You can consult a gynecologist for an expert opinion.
