hi. i just wandered over here from the pregnancy forums. i had a 30 cm cyst removed when i was 22 weeks pregnant. the cyst was found at my 20 week ultrasound and because of the size of it, it had to be removed by laparotomy. it turned out to have taken over my whole left ovary and they removed the fallopian tube as well. the cyst was a serous cyst adenoma that weighed 20 pounds (!!) and turned out to be benign. they removed 6 litres of fluid from it. they tell me i had to have had it for at least 5 years. it had gotten so big that it didn't cause me any pain because it couldn't move. i just thought that i had a pudgy belly and was always trying to lose my big gut but never was able to. now i am 38 weeks pregnant and i'm wondering what i can expect after i get back into my normal cycles again. my cycles were a bit wonky for as long as i can remember. they were about 36 to 40 days long with heavy periods lasting about a week and a lot of cramping. sometimes i wouldn't get a period at all and i would just attribute it to stress because i wasn't sexually active at the time so i never suspected pregnancy. then i started birth control and my cycles became more normal. when i got pregnant the cyst must have grown very quickly because of the shift in hormones (at least that's what i think).

anyway, my real question is, has anyone had a large cyst like this removed and what changes took place afterward? i have to wait to find out until after i have my baby and possibly until i'm done breastfeeding, but i'm really curious as to what the impact will be? is there anyone with any info that can help me out with this?

I had a large tumor removed from my left ovary in January. The only thing I noticed after the surgery was that my first fertile window and my first period right afterward hurt like hell. I felt as if someone was pouring acid on my girly parts. But I have heard that getting pregnant can actually make women stop forming cysts on their ovaries.
