Q: Still Having Pains

Its six months now and I'm still having mild pain in my lower right abdomen area, it will be on the side and upper stomach but normally its in the lower right.

Ive had the colonoscopy/sonogram and ct scan with contrast.

Do I have chronic appendicitis? I know its rare but why else will this pain keep lingering?

My doctor says IBS.....I know I had trapped gas in that are when I had the sonogram done, but why is it still here.

Lisa;

If your symptoms continue to trouble you, try keeping a pain diary. Include what you ate that day or whether the pain seems to bother you after eating, between meals, etc. Try looking for a pattern. Please do not give up trying to figure out what is wrong, particulalry if your symptoms worsen or become more frequent. in my experience, physicians, particularly GI specialists are somewhat tunnel vision-ed in regard to their patient's symptoms. Your symptoms are vague, at this point, and by paying close attention for a couple of weeks, you will be able to provide the doctor with more information to go on. Feel free to post back here if you would liek to give more information regarding the pain diary. i would be happy to help you in any way that I can. Lastly, do not be afraid to seek a second opinion if you find that your doctor is not as atentive or understanding as you need him/her to be. I certainly hope you find some answers.

I had two opinions....my Dr and the ER doctor. And my Dr is a very good and patient DR.

I noticed yesterday that my pain was a little more BUT I also had a lot of gas, so I'm noticing a trend. When there is no gas, no pain....so I'm gonna keep seeing if that trend continues.

I'm also going to try Charcoal tablets.

Thanks Smile
