Q: Ovulation Question - Ovulation, Monitors, and Periods

I have been trying to get pregnant for about 4 months now. I have used the ovulation monitor to track my ovulation for the past three months. I woke up this morning with the monitor stating that I was ovulating today, then started my period today. How can this happen? I am not supposed to start my period until around the 26th of this month.
