I apparently have Diastasis Recti. My
Xyphoid process has been sore since my 4th
son was born. Are the two related? He
will be 1 year old this month. I was told
once by a Dr. that it was likely
xyphoiditis and it would just heal on it's
own but it could take a while.
I have also been told that Diastasis Recti
isn't covered under insurance...it is
considered cosmetic. If these two are
related...it sure doesn't feel very
cosmetic!
Also received a Rectocele from my child
before. Any way all of this is related.
I am 37 - but I didn't expect to fall
apart all at once!
Any helpful info would be great. Is there
any way to close a split abdominal muscle
other than abdominalplasty (not covered by
ins).
Thanks!

I had someone very close to me have an
abdominoplasty. She states it was the
wrost mistake of her life. It is a MAJOR
operation. See if you can watch a video
of the procedure before putting yourself
on that operation table. Of course the
cosmetic surgeon is going to say you are a
perfect candidate, he wants your money.
You won't be able to stand up straight for
about 3 weeks. Your incision could be
very ugly, numb and have "bumpy" things on
both ends. If you experience future
weight gain, the weight will go to your
upper stomach and love handles. I am sure
your kids don't mind if you have a tummy.
Look at some before and after pictures,
the results just don't seem like it is
worth the pain that you WILL go through.
I don't think your conditions are related,
just an unfortunate string of events that
your pregnancy did to your body.
