Q: Possible Pinched Nerve ?

About 1.5 yrs ago, I noticed that, if I stood still for at least 5 minutes or so, my left leg would start to feel as if were going to sleep. That same feeling eventually would happen in my arm/hand as well (especially in pinky). I saw a chiropractor, and he thought I might have pinched a nerve. I had not ever felt any pain, but there does seem to be a little "tightness" in my lower back on the left side when I stand up for awhile. The doctor also noticed that my legs/hip were not balanced. He said one hip was higher than the other, which may have led to this condition. (Possibly related ---> My left lovehandle has always been a bit larger than my right side, maybe due to some hip out of alignment or something....?) He did an adjustment, and the arm numbness subsided, but the feeling in my leg has continued since. It never bothers me if I am playing sports, or running, or walking - just when I stand still. Recently, the condition seems to have gotten a little worse. I can feel it in my arm/hand again. I have read about pinched sciatic nerves causing numbness, but what's weird is that I never experienced any pain. Just the slight numbess. It's very annoying, and I don't think it's gonna go away naturally. Any ideas?

Sciatic Nerve Can Be Awful!
I had a pinched sciatic nerve about 3 yrs ago. I was like, 28 and had no idea what was happening! One night at work (a restaurant) something kept feeling a bit off, around my lower back. I would twist and stretch, thinking I just needed to pop something, right? It steadily got tighter through the evening and I began feeling sharp pain up my spine and down one leg when i walked. This was over a few hours really. By the time I got home from work, I actually had to crawl up the stairs to my apartment! I got to the phone, and was sobbing, panicked calling my boyfriend to come over. I thought I was paralized. For days I couldn't sit up straight, stand to shower, I even had to be roled out of bed! I made it to the chiropractor that week and he said that was exactly what it was, showing me the diagrams. The adjustment fixed it right up, but I've felt it begin again 3 or 4 times since. I in the last year made a strict point of using the gym 4-5 days a week and I religiously stretch before and after I work out-- even though I hate to. My back has been looser than ever since I made that little change, and I think it was all I needed. Do you have a fitness routine, or practice any yoga?

Extremely eHealthy
A pinched nerve in your lower back could certainly cause your leg symptoms, but not your arm symptoms. That would be casued by an issue in your neck. Perhaps a neurologist could help you ascertain the casue of your problems. It may be something more systemic than nerve root impingement, especially in light of the fact that you have no spine pain.
