Yes, I suck at life and have not yet contacted my HMO.

Let me thank you in advance for reading this, I would probably pass on it myself.

So, many months ago my culo began to itch something fierce - especially in the AM. When it wasnt itching like mad to the point of pain (but without any skin breakage, visible rash, or discoloration - as far as I can tell), it was OK. "It'll go away......." it didn't. I rode a bike 10+ miles a day and had all kinds of rationales cooked up. I stopped bike commuting 3 months ago but the irritation remains...ebbing and flowing, but constant. Itchy as hell and I might have even scratched it a couple of times, too. Ahhhhhh. Now there is a new development in the valley between my yambag and my inner thighs and down to Taintville...sort of moist and -yay for me- sort of smelly irritation goin on. The whole region is now compromised and I'd like some advice. I've talked to my wife about and she suggested I try some of her yeast infection cream. I did for several days to no avail.
She is brave, as are all women about these things and has ordered me to talk to my (Kaiser) doctor ASAP. Well here I am hoping to arm myself with some more information before taking that diststeful leap. Any ideas?

Thank you very, very much for your time.

sounds like maybe a thrush infection which requires treatment (in most cases) to clear up.

thrush is a fungal infection which likes warm damp areas.
