I heard there were mild cases of cystic fibrosis, and I am wondering if it is possible that I have it. I am 17 and I have always been spitting up excessive mucus. I've just started worrying about it because I think it's getting worse. I'm skinny and i have digestive problems but never went to a doctor about it. could it be that I just have a weak system or something? I don't have a huge respiratory problem and it has never been so bad that I had to stop and get help. My mom also has the yucky mucus, so I know I got it from her. Any info would be much appreciated!

You should get it checked out to be sure, in mild cases of it the symptoms don't arise until between ages of 13-18. Normally. My infant is getting tested for mild CF, so you should be safe and get it checked by a doctor.

Request a sweat test. If your sweat is very salty the test will pick up on it and tell them if you have CF. I'm a 40 y.o. male with mild cf. The only reason they found it is because I'm missing my vas deferens. (the tubes that deliver sperm) making me unable to have a child naturally. My mom had a bunch of lung issues and was on a nebulizer for years. They thought it was asthma, or unknown resperatory issues. The CF doctors recently told me that she probably had mild cf. Get the sweat test.
