Q: Antibiotics And the Pill

i was put on antibiotics about a week ago for a bladder infection. and i know that they decrease the effectiveness of the pill but i was wondering by how much? and how long should i use a back-up method?

You need to call your doctor that prescribed the antibiotics and discuss the fact that you're on birth control. He should have asked you if you were on any other medications...

Some antibiotics interfere and some don't. If you can't get in contact with a doctor, then use a condom for the entire time you're on the antibiotics, and then for one more week after the last dose, just like what you do if you miss too many pills.
