I understand how you feel. May I ask what do you mean when you stated that the IUD didn't "fit her" . Does that mean that the doctor already tried inserting the IUD and he failed or the doctor said that she can't have an IUD because she never had children?

I know that this is a very sensitive, yet serious issue but you can advice your girlfriend to try other bc options other than the pill. She could try using the ring (nuvaring) and see what happens. You could also try non-hormonal methods to eliminate the chances of hormonal side effects such as the lack of sex drive. You both can try using copper IUD, condoms, sponge, etc. In order to tell her this w/o offending her, you can suggest that both of you should go to a birth control options talk (planned parenthood usually host some events like this) so you and your gf will be familiar with other birth control options that may suit her.

Yeh thats what the doc told her, wasnt going to fit because she hasn't had kids. He tried apparently and she said it hurt REALLY bad.. so that just added not wanting to try anything else.

I've suggest'd for to her to try that ring thing a number of times. No luck, think the same doc told her it was just like using the pill anyway. She also doesnt like the feel of male condoms etc..

My next question is..

Is the Male Pill out yet??
The solution to the problem i think..

I'm sorry to tell you but the male pill is not out yet. It is still under research and it may take some time for it to become available and approved by the FDA.

I'm sorry to hear your situation. I'm 19 years old and I haven't had kids but I have an IUD. It doesn't have hormones so it does not cause any problems. However, I think her doctor was wrong when he didn't prescribe her the ring because "supposedly it is the same as the pill". Actually the ring has lower dose of estrogen and has a different type of progesterone, so the experience can totally be different.

I also want to ask if you were there when the IUD was inserted. It maybe because she was just saying that it didn't fit her because she does not want to try it out.
