Hi everyone, my 4 year old grandson blake was diagnosed with epilepsy and myoclonic seizure, he also has have many grand mal seizures and he has adhd. He has not had any grand mal seizures in a while. How do you tell a 4 year old what is happening to him, he know something is happening after the seizure, Sad the look on his little face is just heart breaking. He is taking depakote sprinkles for the seizures and guanfacine for the adhd. We are unable to find out to much about myoclonic seizures, if he will out grow them, he has anywhere from 10 to 70 aday if any one know anything about it. I would be very grateful.

Hi I am 41 years old and have had epilepsy since I was 28. I had two grand mal seizures then, but have had not had any since. I also have myoclonic seizures. I can have 3 in a minute or none for a week. Sometimes I have them when I am getting ready to go to sleep and sometimes I am woken from my sleep because I am having them. I just wait for them to stop, then go back to sleep. Your grandson may not be able to describe what they feel like, so this what I tell people what mine feel like you know when you are dreaming that you are going to fall off a cliff and you jerk to wake up, combine that with a shiver when you are cold and that is kind of like it. They don't hurt. I can tell when I am talking to people when I am having one because I think I have a pause in what I am saying. Hope I have helped a little.

hi my name is mia and I am a mother of four. And when my oldest son was 4 years old he has a clonic tonic seizure and soon was diagnost with myoclonic seizures. He is 10 years old now and has been seizure free for 3 years. However he eeg's still show signs of seizure activity. I was told by the doctors that 95% of children with myoclonic seizures will out grow them by their teens. I have read that children that have other factors such as myoclonic with other types of seizures may not out grow them. Some with out grow the myoclonic seizures and go on to have different types of seizures later in life. I did find that the information on myoclonic seizures is very brief and getting information from doctors is like pulling teeth. I may just have had a bad experience. But I felt like my child became a lab experiment with no answers. After every thing my family went through I feel my son was luck. I hope your grandson is luck to and can someday put his seizures behind him.
